JOHN SIENER
John Sebastian Siener, the eldest son of Frank and Rose Hammerstein Shetler Siener, was born Feb. 27, 1877, in Hardin County, Illinois. As a young man, John moved to Gallatin County and worked as a farm foreman.
In 1906, he and Sarah Riney of Elizabethtown, Kentucky, were married in a double wedding ceremony in Morganfield, Kentucky. Following a short wedding trip they resided in Gallatin County and had eight children, two of which died in infancy and one as a young child.
Their five surviving children all reached adulthood; Francis Siener (living in Lake Charles, Louisiana), Laurentine Siener Drone February
(living in Ridgway), Laurence Siener (deceased, formerly of Dunedin, Florida), Elizabeth Siener Lafoon (deceased, formerly of Aurora, Colorado) and Thomas Siener (living in East Alton, II.).
Sarah Riney Siener died a young woman in 1924. John remained in Gallatin County raising his family and died on March 20, 1960.
John and Sarah and their three children, dying in childhood, are buried in the St. Mary's Catholic cemetery in Shawneetown. – Submitted by Charlotte Siener, .youngest daughter of Thomas Siener
Note: the above article states John and Sarah are buried in the "St. Mary's Catholic cemetery in Shawneetown" I have visited this grave site and it is in fact in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Old Shawneetown, Gallatin County Illinois along with the children's graves.
