| Earl Sebastian and Christena "Tena" (Shetler) Siener

Earl Siener was born October 26, 1904, in Pope County to Jacob Sebastian and Frances Shelby Siener. Earl's grandparents, John Sebastian and Mary Barbara Siener, were born in Germany and came to Hardin County, Illinois, at an early age. They both are buried in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Hardin County. On October 27, 1925, before Justice of the Peace Gracey Floyd, Earl and Christena Shetler were married. Christena (Tena) was born June 17, 1905, in Pope County to Andrew and Maggie (Hogan) Shetler. After Earl had worked for the railroad 1 1/2 years in Pope, he and Tena moved to Elgin Illinois, where they worked in a state institution. Later Earl was employed by the Sanford Barnett Construction Company and others on Route 146, and at that time they lived at GoreVille Ill, Buncombe Ill, Creal Springs Ill, Chester Ill, and Springfield Ill. They moved back to Pope County where he opened a trucking business, hauling coal for several years. Beginning in 1942 he worked for Alcoa Mining Company for 24 years. In Pope, he was substitute mail carrier and substitute school bus driver for 12 years. Tena clerked in the Variety Store, Joiner's Clothing, and the Watson Hardware in Golconda. In 1967 Earl and Tena Siener, with Lester and Rose Sexton, purchased the S & S Market and were in business there 17 years. The Earl and Tena are parents of one son, James Raymond Siener, born December 10, 1940, in Massac County. He is sergeant on the police force in Lenexa, Kansas, also is a tax auditor. He was married to Carol Sronce and they had three children: Cheryl and twins, Staci and Stephanie. James later married Janice Burnett and they have one daughter, Jamie.
